Prof. Jonas und Frau Dr. Panda-Jonas waren bedeutende frühe Pioniere beim therapeutischen Einsatz von kristallinem Kortison (Triamcinolon) im Glaskörperraum zur Behandlung von Netzhauterkrankungen wie der proliferativen Vitreoretinopathie, der diabetischen Retinopathie bzw. dem diabetischen Makulaödem sowie damit zusammenhängenden Krankheitsbildern.
